In your every day, act for justice and freedom, and against any encroachment that would take those away. Take this inspiring quote from one of the men who desired our everlasting freedom from tyranny.
I have sworn upon the altar of God eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man.
- Thomas JeffersonGet on your feet. Speak up. Participate. Support only that which is truth and justice and that you wish to see sustained and undermine that which threatens this freedom so that it cannot take root and grow. Watching passively as the vines thicken around your resting feet will be the death of you long before the blow that takes your life and freedom.
At this stage, this is a capitalistic society, before it is a democratic society. YOUR DOLLARS ARE YOUR VOTES all year long, well before and in between any elections. Spend locally. Spend discriminately. Buy sustainably. Know the ownership and spending habits of the companies that you allow to prosper just as you would critique the character of elected officials. At the highest levels these players are making the decisions by putting their politicians in power. So watch your money like it is an ethical vote at the spending of every single dollar. Support local innovation and entrepreneurial efforts that you feel will lead to a distribution of Company Wealth. Avoiding national chains distributes power.
Spend less on stuff and more on healthier food. Buy your food locally grown, raised and harvested. Becoming independent in your food, water and energy takes your back off the wall as a consumer. Would a spike in natural gas, fuel, food or electricity prices crush you? Find the weakness in your own personal independence and fix that. Take small actions to become a little less reliant and divert that spending to local food growers and energy producers.
