This is a healthy perspective from neither primary wing of political position. I have affiliation with no party and vote from my intuitive conscience at every ballot opportunity. I believe in getting back to the basics and small government supported by a revolving door of great citizens.
I don't think it's wrong that a president address it's citizen youth, as long as he or she does so openly, in an attempt to include parental participation and attendance, and with a community citizenship focus, not a governmental oriented agenda.
We shouldn't hide our kids from this address any more than we should need to. We should attend and involve ourselves in the dialogue, bringing to light any underhanded content that isn't categorized as such through paranoia, but through open truth and presence in wisdom.
A rebellion is brewing over President Obama's planned address to public school students, to be aired live nationwide on September 8. There is apparently a federally recommended accompanying lesson plan for students throughout the country. Some are even advocating that parents have their children call in sick that day.
