More than 50 percent of women would rather give up an entire summer of sex than gain 10 pounds.
A survey of 1,001 American adults, done on behalf of the weight-loss company Nutrisystem, also found that a shocking 25 percent of men would prefer to remain celibate for an entire season, if it meant they wouldn't pack on 10 extra pounds.
Other findings include that 25 percent of all Americans would prefer losing 10 pounds to getting a promotion at work, whereas 73 percent would give up either their computer, cell phone or TV for an entire summer in exchange for a 10-pound weight loss.
OK, sacrificing sex for skinniness is one thing -- folks go without sex all the time and get nothing for it. But no cell phone? We'll believe it when we see it.
This survey is bogus. They are missing the greater perspective. These women (and men) want to avoid those 10 pounds so they can have sex. And not just sex. They want hot sex. Hot sex happens when you feel sexy.
Currently, social influences assert that slim is sexy. Not just slim... fit. Add ten pounds and you don't look, or more importantly, feel fit. Everyone wants to be sexy; it's in our DNA.
To sum it up: Ensuring hot sex is worth a few months of no sex, no cell, no promotion. It's not a trade for sex or no sex. It's trading plain sex for hot sex.
