I opened an antiquated cassette player by unscrewing the housing and opening the split body of the unit. Wedged between the housing and an inner wall was a folded piece of paper on which the circuitry was diagrammed.
It reminded me of a time when it was expected that either the owner or the repair man would eventually open this equipment. This is no longer the assumption of the manufacturers.
I agree with this manifesto, and want to regain the part of our culture that fixes and understands the electronics and tools we use.
